The Galapagos - Day 2

I'm afraid the next few blog entries are going to be mainly pictures with some brief captions. We could describe every day but most days consisted of visiting different islands and me taking insane amounts of photos. The slide-show on our return is going to be riveting!

A Blue Footed Booby

A big male Sea Lion protecting his beach

A masked or Nazca Booby

The Galapagos Post Office

In 1793 British whalers established the Post Office to send letters to and from England. This tradition has continued over the years, and even today visitors may drop off and pick up letters, without stamps, to be carried to far destinations.

A Lava Lizard

The Devil's Crown

We all snorkeled round this collection of rocks which are the old cone of an ancient volcano. Really strong currents on the ocean side produced masses of fish including a brief visit by white tip reef shark.

A Sally Lightfoot crab

A Portuguese Man-o'War

Luckily we only saw this washed up on a beach. Please note the coconut is not it's usual habitat.

A Flamingo at dusk

Salt water lagoon - Home to the flamingos

Sunset on Floreana
